A Brief History of the Tower of London

The Tower of London was constructed in the 1070’s by William the Conqueror. He had just won the war but was very afraid of rebellion. The castle was intended to not only dominate the skyline but also the minds and hearts of the defeated Englishmen. It took over 20 years for the Tower to be built. Most of the labourers were, in fact, Englishmen, although there were several workers from Normandy who were used to bring stone from France.
